Monte Promotes Nawrot to Head Coach Amid Roster Overhaul
Monte has announced that Piotr "nawrot" Nawrocki, previously the team's assistant coach, has been promoted to head coach. The 26-year-old takes over from Sergey "lmbt" Bezhanov, who departed the team earlier this week.
Nawrot is best known for his time with 9INE, where he coached for 18 months, working with players like Olek "hades" Miskiewicz and Kamil "KEi" Pietkun, both of whom recently joined Monte as part of the team's rebuild.
This promotion is another step in Monte's shift towards a predominantly Polish roster. Over the summer, the team replaced Martin "STYKO" Styk, Ali "hAdji" Haïnouss, and Volodymyr "Woro2k" Veletniuk with the Polish trio of Paweł "dycha" Dycha, hades, and KEi.
Monte's new lineup came close to qualifying for the RMR but narrowly missed out after a decisive loss to B8 in the 2-2 pool.
"Grateful for the opportunity, I'll give it my best to make this team grow," nawrot shared on Twitter. "A lot of changes and work ahead of us, so it's going to be a very interesting period."
Nawrot will make his debut as head coach at the YaLLa Compass Summer 2024 tournament, where Monte will face PARIVISION in the second round of the Swiss group stage on Wednesday.
