Niclas 'enkay J' Krumhorn Joins ENCE as New Head Coach to Lead Counter-Strike Roster Revival
Niclas "enkay J" Krumhorn has been appointed as the new head coach of ENCE's main Counter-Strike roster, the Finnish organization announced on Monday.
The 35-year-old German replaces Jakub "kuben" Gurczyński, who was benched by ENCE in late August after the team's five-year Major attendance streak came to an end following their failure to qualify for the Perfect World Shanghai Major Europe RMRs.
Enkay J will face the challenge of turning the team around after a difficult period that has seen ENCE fall to the brink of dropping out of the world's top 30 teams.
"I am super excited to join such a prestigious organization as ENCE, and I feel very privileged to be here," enkay J said in a statement. "My goal is to bring the team back to the top 10 of the world rankings. I want us to work hard, enjoy playing Counter-Strike, and improve together, day in and day out."
Before joining ENCE, the German coach worked with Entropiq, where he teamed up with his former BIG teammate Tizian "tiziaN" Feldbusch. The European project lasted for a year but did not achieve significant success, and the Czech organization benched the entire roster in July due to changes in the qualification system for the Shanghai Major.
According to ENCE General Manager Niklas "Willkey" Ojalainen, enkay J's extensive experience in various roles as a former professional player, analyst, and coach played a crucial part in securing him the position.
"Niclas was the strongest candidate for the job, and I find his experience in multiple roles, such as IGL, analyst, and coach, extremely valuable," Willkey said. "With that in mind, he can utilize all the tools and resources we have at our disposal. Coming from a German work environment, he also brings a strong foundation for adding more structure to our team."
