Fortnite and Metallica Crossover: What to Expect
Fortnite is set to add another major crossover to its repertoire, this time with the legendary band Metallica. Known for its wild and varied crossover events, Fortnite has previously featured characters like Darth Vader and Indiana Jones, and artists such as Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande.
In 2019, Fortnite set a new player record during its live Marshmello concert event, the first of many in-game gigs. Since then, the Icon series has introduced popular songs as emotes, various artists have received their own skins, and numerous concerts have taken place on the Battle Royale island and in Creative mode. With the recent introduction of the Fortnite Festival game mode, Epic Games has further integrated music into the game. This Guitar Hero-like mode allows players to purchase their favorite songs as Jam Tracks and play them on the Jam Stage during matches or any day of the week.
Since its launch, dozens of Jam Tracks have been added to the Item Shop, and several artists have been featured through the Festival Pass or as skin collaborations. Leaks suggested that Metallica would return to Fortnite, and a recent email teaser confirmed some of the upcoming content. The band's hit song "Master of Puppets" has already been added as an emote, but the full collab will be much more extensive.
What to Expect From the Metallica Event
- Concert Featuring Six Popular Songs: Metallica will perform a virtual concert in Fortnite, playing six fan-favorite tracks.
- Character Skins: James, Lars, Kirk, and Robert will each get their own cosmetic skins, along with LEGO variants.
- Thrash Mountain Rocket Racing Circuit: A new themed racing circuit inspired by Metallica will be added to Rocket Racing.
- Metallica Loot Island: The Loot Island will receive a Metallica-themed makeover.
- Metallica Festival Pass: The Fortnite Festival season pass will feature a variety of Metallica-related content.
According to the promotional email, the Metallica event is set to include these exciting additions. While the exact release date has not been revealed, it is speculated that the event could go live on June 11, coinciding with the next major game update. In the meantime, players can practice their skills in Fortnite Festival by trying out all the free featured songs available each time the Item Shop refreshes.
