Ubisoft'ta Büyük Bir Yeniden Yapılanma İptallere, Kapanmalara ve Grev Tehdidine Yol Açtı
Ubisoft has initiated a "major organisational, operational and portfolio reset" to address market challenges, leading to significant changes across the company. The publisher announced the cancellation of six games and delayed seven others to meet enhanced quality standards.
This news had an immediate financial impact, as Ubisoft shares plunge 34%, reaching their lowest price in fifteen years. The company revised its full-year financial guidance, reducing expected net bookings by €330m to approximately €1.5bn. The reset is intended to refocus the company's efforts and strengthen its long-term growth.
The restructuring involves significant changes to its studio operations. Ubisoft closed its Halifax mobile studio and its Stockholm studio, which had previously collaborated on projects like Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. Further "restructuring" was confirmed for its teams in Abu Dhabi, the Trials studio RedLynx, and Massive, the studio behind The Division. Alongside these organizational shifts, the company has mandated that all remaining staff must return to working in the office five days a week, though it includes an annual allowance of remote-working days. The Paris offices had previously been a site of protests against return-to-office stipulations.
In France, the company has proposed a voluntary round of redundancies that could affect up to 200 employees at its Paris headquarters, which currently has a workforce of about 1100 people. This action is being organized under the Rupture Conventionnelle Collective (RCC) process, which allows employees to collectively negotiate a mutually agreed termination of their contracts. The move is part of an effort to accelerate cost-reduction initiatives.

In response to the proposed job cuts, French unions representing Ubisoft workers voted unanimously in favor of strike action. The unions, including Syndicat des travailleurs et travailleuses du jeu vidéo (STJV) and Solidaires Informatique, have scheduled a strike to run from the 10th to the 12th of February. Reports indicate the unions are planning to coordinate with their international counterparts to potentially expand the scope of the action.
A Ubisoft spokesperson confirmed the voluntary redundancy proposal in a statement.
"In line with last week's announcements on its new operating model and the acceleration of cost-reduction initiatives, Ubisoft International has initiated discussions regarding a potential Rupture Conventionnelle Collective, a collective, voluntary mutual termination agreement that could involve up to 200 positions at its headquarters in France. At this stage, this remains a proposal, and no decision will be final until a collective agreement is reached with employee representatives and validated by French authorities. The proposal applies exclusively to Ubisoft International employees under French contracts and has no impact on other French entities or Ubisoft teams worldwide."

The most significant project cancellation confirmed by the company is the fact that the Prince of Persia: Sands of Time remake has been canceled. First unveiled in 2020, the project suffered multiple delays and was last slated for release in the first quarter of 2026. The other five canceled games included three new IPs and one mobile title, none of which had been publicly announced. The company stated the canceled projects did not meet its new, more selective portfolio criteria.
Ubisoft's restructuring organizes its development efforts into five "creative houses." These divisions will respectively focus on scaling major properties like Assassin's Creed and Far Cry; competitive shooters such as The Division and Ghost Recon; live service games including For Honor and Skull & Bones; immersive fantasy and narrative-driven worlds like Prince of Persia and Rayman; and casual and family games.
Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot addressed the decisive changes in a statement about the company's future.
"These measures mark a decisive turning point for Ubisoft and reflect our determination to confront challenges head-on to reshape the Group for the long term. The portfolio refocus will have a significant impact on the Group's short term financial trajectory, particularly in fiscal years 2026 and 2027, but this reset will strengthen the Group and enable it to renew with sustainable growth and robust cash generation. Ubisoft is entering a new phase – one designed to reclaim creative leadership and build value for players and stakeholders over the long term."
