Nintendo, Virtual Boy'un Switch Online'a ekleneceğini ve daha önce yayınlanmamış iki oyunun da dahil edileceğini doğruladı.
Nintendo confirms that its infamous Virtual Boy console will officially join the Nintendo Switch Online service on February 17. The move, which follows an initial announcement made last year, will make the system’s unique library of games accessible to a modern audience. Originally released by Nintendo in 1995, the virtual reality console never gained mainstream momentum and was quickly scrapped, its commercial failure making it a unique chapter in the company's history. Since then, the hardware has become a collector's item, and its games have remained hard to access for most people.
To view the stereoscopic 3D visuals as intended, players will need a dedicated accessory for their Switch or the upcoming Switch 2. I found there are two options here: a standard Virtual Boy accessory that Nintendo is selling for $99.99, or a cheaper cardboard alternative priced at a lower $24.99. Access to the full library requires a Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscription, adding the platform to the service's growing retro catalog.
A grand total of seven Virtual Boy titles will be available at launch, establishing a core library from day one. I learned that nine more will follow at a later date, expanding the collection over time. This future lineup holds a significant piece of gaming history, as it includes Zero Racer and D-Hopper, two games that were completed but never got a public release back in the day. Their eventual arrival on a modern platform marks a notable moment for game preservation, finally bringing these long-lost projects out of the archives and into the hands of players. For years, playing titles like Virtual Boy Wario Land or Red Alarm meant tracking down original, often expensive, hardware and cartridges. The Switch Online release removes that barrier, effectively transitioning these games from rare artifacts to an accessible part of Nintendo's legacy.

At launch, the gameplay experience will be enhanced with modern features. I will be able to rewind gameplay, create save states to pause and resume at any moment, and remap controls to fit my own preferences, similar to the emulation features for other Nintendo Switch Online platforms. These quality-of-life additions help make older titles more approachable. In the future, I will also be able to change the screen's color, a welcome option for anyone familiar with the original console's monochrome red-and-black display. This adjustment could make extended play sessions more comfortable on the eyes. Nintendo has given no word on when the nine subsequent games will arrive after the Virtual Boy's February 17 arrival, leaving the schedule for future content open. The initial focus is on delivering the launch titles and the core viewing experience.
The launch lineup for February 17 includes:
- Galactic Pinball
- Teleroboxer
- Red Alarm
- Virtual Boy Wario Land
- 3D Tetris
- Golf
- The Mansion of Innsmouth
The games confirmed to be coming soon are:
- Jack Bros.
- Mario Clash
- Mario Tennis
- Space Invaders Virtual Collection
- Virtual Bowling
- Vertical Force
- V-Tetris
- Zero Racers
- D-Hopper

This upcoming event is set to run for approximately 20 minutes and will be dedicated entirely to one of its most anticipated games, Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream, the sequel to the quirky 3DS life simulator.
