Bloodborne'un olası bir yeniden yapımı için son darbeyi vuran bir diğer gelişme.

FromSoftware’s 2015 PlayStation 4 hit, Bloodborne, remains one of the most requested video game remakes. A spiritual sibling to the Dark Souls series, the game distinguished itself by focusing almost entirely on offensive combat. Players could dual-wield weapons, largely forgoing the use of shields in a fast-paced, aggressive system. More than a decade after its release, fans of the gothic horror title have persistently called for a[Bloodborne remake.

Such a project would update the experience for a new console generation, improving the original’s locked 30 frames-per-second performance, adding native 4K support, and significantly reducing loading times. Modder Lance McDonald demonstrated the potential for a performance upgrade by releasing a third-party 60 fps patch for the game on modified PlayStation 4 consoles. Emulation software like ShadPS4, which allows PlayStation 4 games to run on PC, has also offered a glimpse of the modern visuals a full remake could deliver to players.

Recent developments, however, suggest anyone holding out for an imminent remake may be disappointed. Sony is in the process of closing Bluepoint Games, the development studio responsible for a string of successful remakes and remasters. The studio’s portfolio includes the PlayStation 5 launch title Demon's Souls, as well as critically praised updates of Shadow of the Colossus and the Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection for the PlayStation 4. The closure will result in the loss of jobs for approximately 70 employees. I see that given its track record, particularly with the impressive modernization of Demon's Souls for the PS5, Bluepoint Games was widely considered the logical choice to spearhead a Bloodborne project. The studio had a proven understanding of what is required to update a Souls game, respecting the crucial details and feel of the original while delivering a modern presentation.

As we know, the community's desire for a Bloodborne sequel or a next-generation upgrade has been a persistent hope for years. This anticipation often surges around major PlayStation events, and the recent State of Play was no different. Despite no official hints, fans were still hoping for a surprise announcement, which ultimately led to widespread disappointment when nothing materialized. On platforms like Reddit, the sentiment was one of growing weariness, with some fans remarking it was time to "get over Bloodborne" and that their "copium supply is running low," reflecting low morale for a potential franchise return.

Following its co-development work on God of War Ragnarok, Bluepoint was reportedly developing a live-service God of War title that was later canceled in 2025. According to a Bloomberg report from journalist Jason Schreier, the studio "spent the last year pitching and trying to determine what it would do next." Unfortunately for fans, the answer did not involve Bloodborne. I do believe this news is a significant blow to the project's prospects. While other studios could potentially take on the prestigious task, none would carry the same pedigree as Bluepoint, which had established itself as a gold standard for remakes. Virtuos and QLOC, both credited on Dark Souls Remastered, could be contenders. Bloober Team delivered the Silent Hill 2 remake, and Toys For Bob successfully handled the Spyro Reignited Trilogy. Aspyr also has a long, though inconsistent, history of ports and remasters.

Neither Sony nor FromSoftware has ever made a public statement regarding a potential Bloodborne remake. FromSoftware's president, Hidetaka Miyazaki, has acknowledged the persistent fan demand. In a 2024 interview with IGN, he stated he has "a lot of great memories for that game." Speaking with Eurogamer, he further elaborated on the community's passion.

"it does make me very happy to see that there are still so many people passionate about it."

Despite these acknowledgments, a remake is not officially on the cards. While the possibility is not entirely eliminated, the closure of Bluepoint Games makes a Bloodborne remake seem considerably less likely in the near future.
