Despite Grand Theft Auto VI being the most anticipated video game of 2026, there are some titles that could be considered as potential competitors to Rockstar Games newest title. One of those video games is obviously Samson.

Developed by Liquid Swords, the former developers of Mad Max and Just Cause game series, Samson is set in the fictional town called Tyndalston. You play for Samson McCray, who has a debt, and you must pay it every day - otherwise, some dangerous people will look after him. During the IGN Fan Fest 2026, the new trailer for Samson was released, and the game is now set to release on April 8 for PC. Also, new details are being unveiled, and you can check them (and the trailer) below.

• Plays like a brawler set in Max Payne’s 90's New York;
• Not a "AAA" scoped game or 40-hour open world sandbox, but sports impressive visuals and gameplay;
• Play as Samson McCray, fresh out of prison from a robbery job gone bad;
• You're on the hook for debt and are a target of the people behind the job;
• The game's more limited scope allows it to focus more on smaller details;
• Combat: Heavy and light attacks, throw objects, shove, parry, evade, feels "heavy in a really good way";
• Heaviness to vehicles too, though not simulation style (nitro boosts, side slam other cars, handbrake turns, etc);
• Progression system unlocks skills in categories like "instinct" which increases adrenaline, "tactics" increase health", "aggression" or "cunning";
• Hard-hitting, in your face combat, some heavy punches can knock enemies out with a single punch;
• The game is split into days, each day split into afternoon, evening and night;
• You have to pay back an amount of debt each day, and can choose what quests you want to do which moves the day forward;
• Some jobs can only be taken at certain times of the day;
