Developer NetEase Games has officially unveiled Season 7: The Hunt Is On for Marvel Rivals, introducing two new playable characters, fresh content, and one of the biggest balance updates to date.

Following the strong momentum from Season 6 — which added Deadpool and Elsa Bloodstone — the game continues to evolve with both new gameplay systems and competitive improvements, especially after recent community concerns around ranked integrity.

Season 7 Story: Multiversal Chaos in New York

Season 7 launches on March 20, bringing players back to New York City, where Wilson Fisk faces a new crisis.

A multiversal anomaly has caused the Alchemax Corporation from Nueva York 2099 to appear in Lower Manhattan, transforming the area into a futuristic version of itself. In response, Fisk declares martial law, ordering the arrest of all vigilantes — regardless of their origin timeline.

This storyline sets the stage for the arrival of two major characters.

New Characters: White Fox and Black Cat

Season 7 expands the roster with two fan-favorite additions.

White Fox (Ami Han) – Strategist

White Fox joins as a support-focused Strategist, bringing a versatile kit centered around both healing and control.

Her abilities allow her to:

• Heal allies and damage enemies using fox marbles
• Buff teammates and charm opponents
• Transform into a Nine-Tailed Fox with her Ultimate, significantly enhancing her power

She is designed to provide high utility and team synergy, fitting perfectly into coordinated compositions.

Black Cat (Felicia Hardy) – Mid-Season Addition

Black Cat enters the game as part of the narrative conflict. Hired by Fisk to steal a mysterious stone tablet, she is intercepted by White Fox during the mission.

While full gameplay details are still limited, Black Cat is expected to arrive as a mid-season character, adding further variety to the roster.

New Map and Features

Season 7 also introduces new gameplay content beyond characters.

A new version of Lower Manhattan will be added to the Convergence mode on April 2, expanding the game’s map rotation with a multiversal twist.

In addition, NetEase is launching the Album System, a new feature that allows players to:

• Save photos permanently from the Times Square map
• Add custom titles to their images
• Share them with other players and receive likes

This system adds a social and creative layer to the game, encouraging community interaction beyond combat.

Limited-Time Rewards and Events

To celebrate the new season, players can claim a special April Fools’ reward.

Between April 1 and April 3, logging in will grant the Jeff Rodeo emote, featuring Deadpool interacting with Jeff the Land Shark in a humorous animation.

Using this emote in Times Square can also unlock additional rewards, including titles and in-game currency.

Global Balance Changes – Ultimate Abilities Nerfed

The most impactful gameplay change in Season 7 is a global nerf to Ultimate Ability charge rates.

NetEase revealed that around 80% of Ultimate energy comes from damage and healing conversion, leading to overly frequent Ultimate usage.

Key Global Adjustments

• Overall Ultimate charge rate reduced by ~20%
• Vanguards & Duelists:Damage-to-energy conversion reduced from 90% → 70%
• Passive regeneration reduced from 12/s → 11/s
• Strategists:Damage/healing conversion reduced from 90% → 75%
• Passive regeneration reduced from 12/s → 8/s

This change aims to make Ultimates feel more impactful and earned, rather than spam-heavy.

Major Hero Balance Changes

Season 7 delivers extensive adjustments across the entire roster, affecting nearly every role.

Vanguards

Several frontline characters received notable updates:

• Angela becomes stronger in grounded combat, with improved damage scaling but reduced aerial effectiveness
• Captain America gains smoother shield interactions but provides less Ultimate energy to allies
• Hulk now charges his Ultimate faster and gains additional ability flexibility
• Magneto sees improved lane pressure and faster Ultimate projectile speed
• Doctor Strange and Emma Frost receive defensive adjustments to balance survivability

Duelists

Damage-focused heroes also see a mix of buffs and nerfs:

• Black Panther gains increased mobility with no cooldown on his second jump
• Blade becomes significantly stronger in close combat with improved lifesteal and range
• Iron Man receives survivability buffs and smoother ability activation
• Scarlet Witch gets improved close-range damage and better mid-range scaling

Meanwhile, characters like Daredevil, Hawkeye, Elsa Bloodstone, and Winter Soldier receive targeted nerfs to reduce their dominance.

Strategists

Support-focused heroes are also adjusted to align with the new Ultimate system:

• Gambit provides slightly weaker team buffs but increased damage potential
• Invisible Woman sees reduced in-combat healing but stronger recovery outside fights
• Luna Snow gains new synergy mechanics that reward team eliminations

Team-Up System Changes

Season 7 introduces major changes to team-up abilities, reshaping synergy between heroes.
