Over the last few weeks, we’ve seen some updates about the upcoming Assassin’s Creed show developing for Netflix. Specifically, new actors have joined the cast of the project, with shooting, according to unofficial information, having already begun in Italy. And today Netflix has officially confirmed the start of the Assassin’s Creed TV show production and revealed more details about the cast and more.

The announcement comes from Netflix’s official website. It states the production of Assassin’s Creed live-action has officially begun in Rome, Italy. Moreover, there is specific information about the show’s story—it will be set in 64 AD and will tell “an original story set in the heart of the Roman Empire.” Netflix also released the logline of the Assassin’s Creed series, and you can check it out below:

“Assassin’s Creed is a high-octane thriller centered on the secret war between two shadowy factions — one set on determining mankind’s future through control and manipulation, while the other fights to preserve free will. The series follows its characters across pivotal historical events as they battle to shape humanity’s destiny.”

There is also information about the cast of Assassin’s Creed. It is stated that Lola Petticrew, Toby Wallace, Zachary Hart, Laura Marcus, Tanzyn Crawford, Nabhaan Rizwan, and Claes Bang are set to play regular characters in the series, while Noomi Rapace, Ramzy Bedia, Sean Harris, Corrado Invernizzi, Sandra Guldberg-Kampp, Youssef Kerkour, Mirren Mack, and Louis McCartney were also cast for recurring roles.

Roberto Patino (Sons of Anarchy) and David Wiener (Halo) are confirmed to serve as the show’s creators, showrunners, and executive producers. The writers team consists of Sanaz Toossi (A League of Their Own), Sam Reynolds (The Walking Dead: World Beyond), Daniel Goldberg, and Tom Hemmings.
