According to recent leaks, this new mode would feature 6v6 matches where players select from a variety of classes before heading into combat. While Fortnite originally built its identity around a mix of shooting and building mechanics, the game has steadily evolved over the years, introducing new modes and systems designed to appeal to a broader audience.

Expanding Appeal Through Crossovers and New Modes

Despite some backlash over recent V-Bucks price increases, Fortnite continues to attract players with high-profile collaborations. Recent additions include skins inspired by KPop Demon Hunters, Resident Evil Requiem, and even characters from Game of Thrones.

The game’s long-standing focus on pop culture crossovers — spanning movies, TV, gaming, sports, and music — has been a major factor in its success. At the same time, new gameplay experiences such as LEGO-themed survival and sandbox modes have helped keep the game fresh for both newcomers and longtime fans.

Now, Epic Games may be looking to expand even further by introducing a mode inspired by classic competitive shooters.

Rumored First-Person TDM Details

Well-known leakers Loolo_WRLD and Egyptian_Leaker claim that a “First-Person TDM” mode is currently in development and could be released soon.

According to the leaks, the mode will feature:

  • 6v6 team-based combat
  • Class-based gameplay, with options such as Assault, Infantry, Rush, Close Encounters, Breacher, Cowboy, Ranger, and Suppressive
  • A dedicated map designed specifically for this mode
  • Custom weapons, including unique items like a sword capable of blocking attacks
  • A mini-map radar system, adding a more traditional FPS feel

The structure is said to resemble popular shooters like Apex Legends, Counter-Strike, and Rainbow Six Siege, suggesting a more tactical and grounded experience compared to standard Fortnite gameplay.

Mixed Community Reactions

Early reactions to the rumors have been divided. Fans of games like Overwatch and Valorant have expressed excitement about the potential for a new competitive mode. At the same time, others are concerned about the lack of updates for Fortnite Ballistic.

For context, Fortnite Ballistic — a tactical FPS mode — launched in early access in December 2024 but has seen limited support since then. The emergence of Deathmatch rumors has led some players to question whether the new mode might replace Ballistic or if both will coexist moving forward.

Still Unconfirmed

As with any leak, it’s important to treat this information cautiously. Even reliable sources can be mistaken, and game development plans often change.

That said, the idea of a first-person Team Deathmatch mode fits Fortnite’s ongoing strategy of expanding its gameplay variety. Whether Epic Games officially announces the mode in the near future remains uncertain, but it wouldn’t be surprising to see the game introduce yet another major feature aimed at attracting new players.
