Mafia oyun serisinin yaratıcısı Samson'ı övdü ve oyunun "Mafia'ya benzediğini" belirtti.
Developed by Liquid Swords, the developers of Just Cause game series, and led by one of its creators, Christofer Sundberg, Samson looked like a promising project, but it seems the players had slightly inflated expectations. Despite its dark atmosphere and unique concept, the game was criticized for its boring gameplay, weak storyline, poorly implemented car physics, and especially for its numerous bugs and glitches.
The developers continue to release various updates for the game, primarily aimed at fixing various bugs, and have even confirmed its roadmap to 2026 for Samson, which includes the game’s release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S this September. Despite the mostly negative reviews, the game received praise from one of the developers—and not just any developer, but Daniel Vávra, the creator of the Mafia and Kingdom Come: Deliverance game series. On his X, Vávra wrote a number of warm words about Samson and even stated that the game “looks like Mafia.” You can check out his statement below:
“I recently accidentaly came across some gameplay footage from a game called Samson. As the creator of Mafia, it naturally caught my attention, because it looks like Mafia! And it surprised me, cause It looks absolutely gorgeous, and nobody’s talking about it! WTF? Later I’ve found out it costs only 24 euros, it’s already out, nobody’s talking about it, and it has pretty bad reviews. WTF2! So I bought it.
It really looks looks FAN-TAS-TIC!... and it’s a eurojank.
Then I found out the story behind it. The creators of Just Cause, an indie development team, couldn’t find a publisher, layoffs, cutting back on the original plan, rushed self-publishing without advertising, bugs, a struggle for survival. It could easily have happened to KCD as well. For the money, it’s not bad. Give it a try. It looks really great. But I have a feeling that given the number of announced titles, we’ll be hearing a few more stories like this this year...:(“
Praise of this caliber and comparisons to the Mafia franchise are quite high praise for the developers, and it’s likely to serve as a source of motivation for them. As for Daniel Warva, in February of this year he stepped down as creative director of Warhorse Studios, the game division responsible for developing the two Kingdom Come: Deliverance games, and is now working on a film adaptation of the game.
Speaking of Mafia game series, Hangar 13 is confirmed to be working on the new franchise title, which is rumored to be the direct sequel to 2025’s Mafia: The Old Country. Moreover, the studio is also developing Mafia 2 Remake.
As for Samson, the game is now available on PC (Steam, Epic Games Store) and released on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S this September.
