Quantic Dream, oyunun erken erişime açılmasının üzerinden henüz 3 ay bile geçmeden Spellcasters Chronicles'ı kapatıyor.

Quantic Dream studio has recommended itself as top-notch creators of single-player projects, especially thanks to Heavy Rain and Detroit: Become Human. In this go, the developers decided to try a new niche by releasing the multiplayer shooter Spellcasters Chronicles - and as practice has shown, it did not play in favor of the studio.

On his X social media, Quantic Dream announced that Spellcasters Chronicles servers will be shut down this summer - about 3 months after the game became available in early access. The game will still be available until June 19, 2026, after which the servers will be permanently closed. Official statement from Quantic Dream you can check out below:

“Today, Quantic Dream is announcing the discontinuation of the development of Spellcasters Chronicles.

With this project, our teams set out to explore new creative territories and create a bold, original multiplayer experience. Spellcasters Chronicles allowed us to experiment with new concepts and bring to life an ambitious game shaped by the talent, creativity, and dedication of everyone involved.

However, in today’s particularly challenging market environment, the game has not reached the audience needed to ensure its long-term sustainability. We have therefore made the difficult decision to refocus our efforts on our other projects.

As part of this decision, the studio will undertake an internal reorganization. We are fully committed to handling this transition with fairness, care, and respect, and will prioritize internal reassignments wherever possible to support our other productions.

The development of Star Wars Eclipse is not affected by this decision and continues as planned.

Spellcasters Chronicles will remain accessible online until June 19, 2026, when the servers will be shut down. All amounts spent during Early Access will be eligible for a full refund upon request. Further details will be shared in the coming days through the game’s official channels and Discord.

As you can see, Quantic Dream confirmed that the development of Star Wars Eclipse, the game that was announced back in 2021, is still continuing, and the recent servers' closure of Spellcasters Chronicles is not having any impact on that. However, it was recently rumored that the game’s development is not doing well. Hopefully, after the closure of Spellcasters Chronicles servers, Quantic Dream can fully concentrate on the development of a promising Star Wars title.

As for Spellcasters Chronicles, NetEase, the parent company of Quantic Dream, reportedly was counting on the game, including as a source of income to fund Star Wars Eclipse, but now, with the game servers shutting down next month, I want to believe that this will not affect the game's development and the studio's future plans.
