This year Capcom released the ninth installment of Resident Evil, titled Requiem, which became one of the main games of 2026 in terms of quality. It is known that Requiem will also receive a story expansion, and a new leak reports that it will be important not only for the events of the games but also for the future of the franchise.

A well-known Resident Evil leaker, Marcox, shared an insider scoop on his page on X. According to his sources, dataminers discovered that the release of the story DLC for Resident Evil Requiem is scheduled for the end of this year, and its events will directly lay the foundation for the tenth installment of the franchise.

Dataminers have detected new codes added to the game's servers indicating that the major story expansion planned for the end of this year will include secret endings and narrative clues that act as a "direct bridge" to the story and threads of the upcoming tenth installment (Resident Evil 10).

Previously, Marcox had already shared insights not only regarding Resident Evil 10 but also other future titles of the franchise. Regarding the tenth installment, he noted that Capcom plans to introduce another new main heroine in the upcoming game - she will be someone named Talia, who is the survivor of a biological incident in a modern-day European city. He also revealed that this will be the darkest and scariest Resident Evil ever, with a focus on horror and survival rather than action. The main villain will be Alex Mercer, and she will be opposed by Leon S. Kennedy, Chris Redfield, and Jill Valentine. The game's release is tentatively scheduled for 2029.

At the moment, Capcom has not commented on the details regarding the story DLC for Requiem and the tenth installment of Resident Evil, so all the aforementioned information should be taken as a rumor. As for story DLC for Resident Evil Requiem, according to the leaker, who previously predicted the plot of the main game, the game will feature two story expansions – one dedicated to Leon S. Kennedy and Alyssa Ashcroft, and the second to Chris Redfield and Ada Wong.

There is also information that the developers plan to announce a remake of Resident Evil Code: Veronica already this week - as part of the Summer Game Fest show (June 5-8).
