The upcoming RPG from Rebel Wolves, The Blood of Dawnwalker, draws attention not only because it is being developed by the same team behind The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt—including game director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz—but also due to what the game will offer. The concept revolves around players having 30 in-game days and nights to complete the main storyline, with time progressing after each finished quest.
The studio emphasizes replayability, ensuring that the actions players take will matter not only as the story progresses but also in future games within the series. Although the sequel to The Blood of Dawnwalker has not been officially confirmed or guaranteed yet, Rebel Wolves have announced that they are already working on turning the game into a franchise. Additionally, the trailer shown at Summer Game Fest, set in a modern environment, is actually a post-credits scene from the original game, as stated by the game director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz.
In a recent interview with Comics Gaming Magazine, Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, the Game Director of The Blood of Dawnwalker, and Narrative Designer Piotr Kucharski revealed even more details about how choices made in the story will impact the future. Specifically, they confirmed that the game will feature multiple ending options, and in the sequel, players will be able to carry over their choices from the first part—similar to the approach used in Mass Effect and The Witcher. “The idea is to create games which will lead you to the eras and different countries, different cultures, different local legends and myths and different species of the creatures of the night with Coen, our protagonist, and create the consistent story to lose through this time, which will end and lead to what you have saw, and this is only the beginning of this intro, we will try to do another part after every part of the next games.
The promise is that we will keep this character, that we will grow with Coen, that you can shape him, that you can transfer your shapes, and your choices will be taken into consideration in the next parts. This way, you will be able to know some really consistent adventure, and this story through all the games.”
Recently, in another interview, Konrad Tomaszkiewicz revealed that The Blood of Dawnwalker will resemble classic Fallout games in terms of narrative and gameplay, allowing you to complete the game exactly the way you want, with complete freedom of action, as well as Rebel Wolves already planning the release schedule for future DLCs for the game.
