One of the most anticipated upcoming games is God of War: Laufey, a new installment in the franchise featuring Faye as the protagonist, announced at the State of Play event earlier this month. Recent research has revealed that Santa Monica Studio’s upcoming project has become the most discussed and sought-after game this month, following numerous announcements made during State of Play, as well as Summer Game Fest, Xbox Games Showcase, and Nintendo Direct.

The developers have not yet announced an official release date for God of War Laufey, but several gaming insiders recently revealed that the wait won’t be long. They say the game will be available exclusively on PlayStation 5 in the first half of 2027. Sony's recent actions also tease at this timeline. According to a new report from Insider Gaming, the company has launched an unexpected promotional campaign for the game, stating that the release of God of War Laufey is coming soon, as you can check out below:

“Death was supposed to be the end, but for Laufey (Faye), warrior and wife to Kratos, a new adventure is just beginning. Join her in the Everywhen, a land of dangerous magic, as she fights through the afterlife of the gods to save the ones, she loves in God of War Laufey™ – coming soon to PlayStation®5 consoles.”

It has been confirmed that the events of God of War: Laufey will take place alongside those of God of War (2018) and God of War: Ragnarok. The story centers around Faye, who is magically transported to Everywhen—the transcendent afterlife realm of the gods. Alongside unusual allies—a gelatinous cube named Phranque and an enchanted ribbon called Rue—Faye must face serious threats from various deities and find a way to reunite with her family.
