Techland is celebrating the first anniversary of Dying Light: The Beast and has published player stats from the game's first year to mark the occasion. The developers launched a series called "Unfolded," which will show how players spent their first year in Castor Woods. The first chapter is already out, and more will follow in the coming days.

A post recently appeared on the company's official social media. In it, the developers shared a message for players and an infographic that gathers all the stats from the year since release.

The stats turned out to be really interesting. Over the year, players completed more than a billion quests and played 52 million sessions, with total playtime reaching 11 thousand years.The number of enemies killed is the most impressive figure. Players took down 8.6 billion zombies and other enemies, and activated Beast Mode, the signature mechanic that lets Kyle Crane turn into a beast, 345 million times. Co-op was popular too: 1.7 million players took part in co-op sessions, with total co-op playtime exceeding 4 thousand years.

Some of the numbers turned out to be funny. The most popular food item was beverages, meaning water and soda, while the most-crafted item was the repair kit. Players recharged their flashlights more than 6 million times and killed over 6,500 Volatiles with pitchforks. The developers summed up players' survival strategy like this:"Survival strategy was 10% master plan and 90% chaotic improvisation."

Still, Castor Woods proved to be a dangerous place. Players died 39 million times, and the most common cause of death was Volatiles, the nighttime mutants that have become the series' calling card.

Dying Light: The Beast launched in September 2025 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. It was originally planned as DLC for Dying Light 2 but later grew into a standalone project. The main character is Kyle Crane, the protagonist of the first Dying Light, who gained the ability to turn into a beast after years of experiments.
