PUBG Unleashes Rondo: A Cinematic Adventure and China-Inspired Battlefield, Redefining the Battle Royale Experience

Today marks a momentous occasion for the popular battle royale game PUBG, as it unveils its tenth map, Rondo. PC players can already dive into this new battleground, while console enthusiasts will need to exercise patience until December 14, 2023.

To make the wait more enjoyable and celebrate PUBG's milestone, KRAFTON has collaborated with director Sam Hargrave to produce a short film featuring Squid Game actor Lee Jung-jae and Daniel Wu from Westworld and Tomb Raider fame. In this action-packed eight-minute film, both actors assume the roles of squad leaders in a real-world PUBG match, showcasing distinctly different leadership styles and delving into some personal history.

The film is not only entertaining but also a treasure trove of PUBG Easter eggs. For those curious about how some of the game's outlandish skins would translate into real life, this film provides a captivating glimpse.

As expected, the action includes a character wielding a frying pan for melee combat, and the iconic welding helmet from the game's key art takes a center stage moment. Rondo, the latest map, draws inspiration from China and stands as the largest battlefield PUBG has introduced. It encompasses diverse terrains, including ancient temple complexes, bamboo forests, serene lakes surrounded by majestic mountain pillars, a neon-lit city, and a sprawling factory area. Tactical innovations include destructible bamboo and escalators facilitating rapid building traversal. The Rondo map introduces the JS9, a new 9mm submachine gun, ideal for the brutal and intense close combat scenarios the map presents.

To celebrate the launch of Rondo, PUBG is hosting the Rondo Royale Celebration until December 20, 2023. The celebration includes a plethora of events, giveaways, and a Twitch Drop program, providing players with ample opportunities to engage with the new map and its offerings.
