The official premiere of Avengers: Endgame—Encore, the extended version of the 2019 blockbuster, is scheduled for September 25. However, select theaters have already held preview screenings; as a result, clips showing new footage and post-credits scenes have already surfaced.

As is well known, Avengers: Endgame Encore includes scenes from Avengers: Doomsday—the next MCU crossover, set to premiere this December. The extended cut sets the stage for the new film in a very intriguing way and also confirms the appearance of characters who had not been previously announced.

Social media users who saw Avengers: Endgame – Encore in theaters have already leaked the content of the new scenes and post-credits scenes. There turned out to be four of them in total.

First, Avengers: Endgame – Encore features a new ending. In the scene where Steve Rogers and Peggy Carter are dancing in their home, Loki—the version of the character from the TV series of the same name—pops in to visit them. After he locks eyes with Steve Rogers, the credits begin to roll. As we know, Steve Rogers returns in Avengers: Doomsday, and it is thanks to Loki that he is reunited with the heroes from Earth-616.

But far more interesting things start to happen in the post-credit scenes. The first one shows Bruce Banner—aka the Hulk—after the events of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, where the character appeared in both of his identities. He’s in a remote location, recounting how he experienced transforming into the Hulk again for the first time in over 10 years. Toward the end of the scene, glare begins to appear on the screen. Bruce says, "Who are you? What are you doing here?" We hear the voice of Doctor Doom, voiced by Robert Downey Jr., who utters the following words:

“Mr. Banner. I’m here to collect you.”

Banner’s voice gradually begins to distort. We hear the sounds of a struggle and the Hulk’s roar. The scene ends with the camera—which Banner was using to film his message—zooming in on the floor, where various green hieroglyphs are visible. Apparently, this scene confirms that the Hulk will be on Doctor Doom’s side in Avengers: Doomsday.

The second scene after the credits confirms a few more characters who will appear in Avengers: Doomsday. These are Mobius and Ouroboros from the Loki series. We see what appears to be a typical day at the TVA, with a discussion about upcoming incursions into other universes. At some point, the situation spirals out of control: TVA staff report incursions from twenty, one hundred, three hundred, and three thousand universes. At the end of the clip, Ouroboros utters the line, “The multiverse is collapsing.”

At the very end of the credits, there are also a few shots of Doctor Doom forging his mask: we hear the sound of a hammer striking metal, just as in the original film, where this was a reference to Tony Stark building his suit.

Avengers: Endgame – Encore certainly fuels even more excitement for Avengers: Doomsday, confirming the important connection between the two films. It’s nice to see Marvel Studios has given some attention to Doctor Doom, who, aside from the trailers for Doomsday, has only appeared in a post-credit scene in The Fantastic Four: First Steps. Not to mention the film has confirmed the presence of characters who have long been the subject of rumors—and fans are already coming up with theories about what roles they’ll have.

Avengers: Doomsday premieres on December 18.
