Treyarch has released an exciting new trailer for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, showcasing gameplay from the latest Zombies map, "The Tomb". This new map picks up right after the events of the "Citadelle des Morts" main quest and will be available at the launch of Black Ops 6 Season 2, scheduled for Tuesday, January 28. The update will also introduce new weapons and gear.

In The Tomb, the team—comprised of Weaver, Maya, Carver, and Grey—must transport their newly acquired amulet to a cursed dig site and descend into ancient catacombs in search of the elusive Sentinel Artifact. Reports suggest the map's depths are rife with paranormal activity spanning centuries. At its core lies the Dark Aether Nexus, where Samantha Maxis is imprisoned. Starting with Season 2, players will be able to explore The Tomb and unravel the next chapter of the Zombies storyline.

A Journey Through the Depths

The newly released trailer emphasizes the team’s mission to venture deep into The Tomb to retrieve the Sentinel Artifact. Along the way, players will face relentless waves of zombies throughout intricately designed areas. The journey begins at the Dig Site before progressing into The Tomb, which features remnants of ancient civilizations. The map includes the Neolithic Catacombs, leading to the Ossuary and the Shrine of the Hierophants, where centuries-old treasures and shrines remain untouched despite the zombie infestation.

Classic gameplay elements return, such as Perk-A-Cola machines, including the fan-favorite Death Perception Perk-A-Cola from Black Ops 4. These machines are scattered across various sections of The Tomb, offering strategic advantages to players.

New Threats and Powerful Weapons

Players navigating the eerie corridors will encounter wall-mounted traps capable of damaging zombie hordes. The map also introduces a massive cave housing the Subterranean Temple and Deep Excavation areas, which provide ample space for zombies to gather in dangerous numbers. Among the new threats is the Shock Mimic, a fearsome enemy with razor-sharp claws that can electrify players. This enemy can also disguise itself as useful items or disorient players with distortion camouflage.

To counter these challenges, the Staff of Ice, a beloved Wonder Weapon from Black Ops 2, makes a triumphant return. Its devastating power could be the key to defeating the Shock Mimic and surviving the horrors of The Tomb.

The Main Quest and the Dark Aether Nexus

The primary objective of The Tomb involves opening the enigmatic "Doorway to Nowhere", which leads to the Dark Aether Nexus. While only brief glimpses of this area are shown in the trailer, it reveals a sprawling environment filled with towering spires and glowing mushrooms. The Dark Aether Nexus is expected to be the climactic setting for the main quest. For newcomers, Black Ops 6 introduces Directed Mode, a feature designed to guide players through objectives and enhance accessibility.
