The location will be Los Angeles, California. The genre of the game is presented as an action RPG from the first person. The main characters will be immune to the virus, and as the story progresses, they will need to find out what happened and who they have become.

Like the first game in the series, Dead Island 2 will boast a wide range of melee weapons, as well as their modifications. The fate of the firearms remains unknown. There will also be many different types of zombies.

The original Dead Island was released back in 2011. The project was developed by the Polish studio Techland, which later left the Deep Silver publishing house. Dead Island 2 went through production hell, first being developed by Yager Productions and later developed by Sumo Digital. Ends development at Dambuster Studios. During this time, the creators of the original managed to release Dying Light and Dying Light 2, which were inspired by the first part of Dead Island.
