A demo version of Super Mario Bros. Wonder has appeared on Nintendo Switch kiosks in the US
As discovered by @Nintendeal, some stores in the United States have received updates to their demo kiosks, which now feature a playable demo of an upcoming platformer.
Reportedly, this demo is available in select Target, Walmart, and GameStop stores.
It remains unclear whether this demo will later become available on the Nintendo eShop. Retail-exclusive game demos are a rarity but not entirely unheard of.
The release date for the game titled "Wonder" is set for October 20. This marks the first 2D Mario game in the Mario universe since the release of "New Super Mario Bros. U" back in 2012.
The game appears to introduce substantial changes to the classic formula that has been in place since the 1990s, featuring a new art style and a "Wonder" mechanic that transforms levels in surprising ways.
The producer of "Super Mario Bros. Wonder," Takashi Tezuka, and its director, Shiro Mouri, have credited the game's young development team for many of its innovative features.
In a recent preview of "Super Mario Bros. Wonder" published by VGC, it was noted: "The reveal trailer for 'Super Mario Bros. Wonder' in June hinted at a 2D game with some of the madness of its 3D cousins. After playing four levels (and a bonus one) at Nintendo Live in Seattle, I can say that this is shaping up to be the wildest 2D Mario game to date, but one that still holds true to that classic Mario Bros formula."
