Ball’s remarks, part of a larger presentation on the state of the gaming industry in 2025, emphasize that game prices have been historically low in real terms despite the rising costs of game development and the stalled growth of the gaming market. While Ball doesn't confirm that GTA 6 will cost $100, his comments have sparked significant discussion on social media, with many wondering if the industry is ready for such a price point for one of the most anticipated games of all time.

While the idea of a $100 price tag might sound enticing for publishers, analysts are less convinced. Mat Piscatella, an analyst at Circana, believes such a move could narrow the player base and is unlikely to happen, especially given how Rockstar Games and Take-Two have historically focused on optimizing their launch strategy. Joost van Dreunen, a professor at NYU Stern, also disagrees, arguing that the strategy that worked well for GTA 5 — launching at a standard price and offering premium editions — is more likely to be the approach for GTA 6. While the price of the base game may not skyrocket, it seems likely that premium editions with additional content will be offered at higher price points.

Grand Theft Auto VI is an upcoming action-adventure game set in the fictional state of Leonida, based in Florida, and featuring Vice City.
