If you've ever wanted to grow mushrooms like the ones in Avowed, the new RPG from Obsidian Entertainment, you're in luck! Thanks to North Spore, you can now purchase $30 kits where fungus erupts from the chest of an infested skeleton. The kits come in blue, pink, or golden oyster fungus varieties, each ready to grow into edible mushrooms. With proper care, you'll be able to harvest twice, and even repot them for extended growing.

The kits are simple to use: just open the box, cut an X into the plastic, and keep the fungus moist with the included sprayer bottle. While the mushrooms haven't sprouted for me yet, the process seems straightforward, and soon enough, the fungus will start growing out of the skeleton's chest.

The "Avowed" Touch: Customization and 3D Printing

The Avowed branding adds an extra layer of intrigue to the kit, but it’s essentially just one of North Spore’s standard kits, now with a special fantasy twist. For an added touch of authenticity, you can download an STL file to 3D print one of Avowed's iconic bears and plant the mushroom kit inside, so the fungus grows out of its face – truly capturing that Dreamscourge vibe!

As McInnis explains, mushrooms are mysterious and versatile, offering both medicinal benefits and the potential for danger. Their mysterious nature makes them perfect for fantasy worlds.
