That’s what Razed, creator of NaturalVision Enhanced, had to say after spending ten years—and around 10,000 hours—building GTA V’s most jaw-dropping visual overhaul. For anyone who's dipped even a toe into GTA V modding, the name NaturalVision rings loud. It's not just another ENB or shader tweak. It's a full-blown, scene-by-scene transformation of Los Santos into something that, at times, looks more believable than real life.

This is truly a new level. We have seen screenshots of a realistic and impressive GTA 5 using the mod. Now let's read what its author has to say.

The story? Ten years of near-obsessive iteration. Razed started with a goal to bring realism into GTA V’s sandbox. Not realism like “slower walk speeds” or “NPCs get tired.” No, we’re talking lighting that shifts with the time of day and weather. Actual cloud reflections. Sidewalks that look like they’ve been pressure-washed or cracked by time. That kind of realism.

And he’s still not done.

10,000 Hours in Los Santos

NaturalVision has been a fixture of the GTA modding scene for nearly a decade. In a recent interview with PC Gamer, Razed revealed just how deep the rabbit hole goes. Steam clocks him at 10,000 hours played—though he estimates at least 80% of that was spent developing or testing the mod.

“I’d estimate that around 80% of that time was dedicated to developing and testing this project over the years,” he said. And he’s not alone: “Other team members have also contributed hundreds, if not thousands, of hours towards developing the mod.”

It’s that kind of time investment that explains why NaturalVision Enhanced doesn’t just look like a facelift—it feels like a whole new game. The mod integrates features from NaturalVision Evolved while taking advantage of the latest GTA V Enhanced Edition updates, like ray-traced lighting and improved shadows.

“Maintaining subtly in this work is extremely important when you look at the bigger picture,” Razed said. “It’s those small touches that shape the atmosphere and make the world feel more alive.”

What Makes NaturalVision So Damn Good

You boot up GTA V with NaturalVision running, and the first thing you do is stop driving. Why? Because you’re looking at the puddle reflections. Or maybe how the sun glare hits a skyscraper and scatters just right. It’s the kind of detail that makes a 12-year-old game compete with next-gen visuals.

What’s wild is how technical the improvements are. We’re talking volumetric cloud shaders, hot-reload dev tools, and asset editing in real-time without restarts. These aren't just aesthetic changes—they’re infrastructure-level mods that push the engine harder than Rockstar probably ever intended.

“One of the most impactful has been a set of hot reloading utilities... enabling near real-time editing of game assets without requiring a full game restart,” Razed explained.

He and his team use Miro to organise, track, and prioritise every tweak. Which is hilarious when you remember they’re doing this for free, mostly supported by Patreon and Discord.

The Business of Passion

Over the years, Razed has built more than a mod—he's built a community, a pipeline, and now, a platform. He’s used the attention from NaturalVision to create opportunities not just for himself, but for other modders.

“Thanks to platforms like Patreon and Discord, I’ve been able to turn this passion into a living,” Razed said. “I’ve been able to give back by hiring others within the GTA 5 modding community and helping create opportunities for them as well.”

He’s a believer in giving modding the official recognition it deserves. And with GTA 6 looming, that means tools.

“I think modding is going to be bigger than ever once GTA 6 eventually drops on PC,” he told PC Gamer. “I’m hopeful Rockstar will give players official tools to mod the game, especially with the direction they’re heading with FiveM.”

Eyeing GTA 6’s Potential

As with any conversation around Rockstar’s future, speculation is half the fun. But Razed’s hopes are rooted in pragmatism. He’s not expecting to overhaul GTA 6’s visuals—it already looks stunning. Instead, he sees opportunity in community-driven content.

“I don’t think visual overhaul mods will be in high demand this time around... I think I’d really enjoy making content for people to use on their custom servers, like exterior map packs or custom interiors.”

That doesn’t mean he’s throwing in the towel. He’s just pivoting. And if Rockstar plays it smart, they could take a cue from Bethesda.

“Imagine if they took a page out of Bethesda’s playbook and introduced a proper marketplace for user-generated content,” Razed said. “It could benefit both mod creators and Rockstar in a big way.”

If You Build It, They Will Roleplay

One of the more intriguing ideas Razed threw out? Turning Vice City into a full 1980s Miami-style RP hub. We're talking a complete environmental overhaul—something that reimagines the GTA 6 map for neon-soaked storytelling.

“I’d love to see someone take the Vice City part of the map and completely rework it into a full-on 1980s Miami vibe,” he said. “It would require a major overhaul of the landscape, but the end result could be something incredible.”

That’s the kind of big swing that GTA modders are uniquely good at. And while it's too early for Razed to confirm what he will build for GTA 6, it’s hard not to imagine he’ll be leading the charge.

Before GTA 6

We’ve been waiting for GTA 6 for so long that projects like NaturalVision Enhanced feel less like distractions and more like legit extensions of the series. They’ve filled the gap, not with hype trailers or lore speculation, but with craft. And whether it’s 2026 or later when GTA 6 hits PC, there’s no question: modding will explode.

Because when someone spends 10,000 hours on a GTA V realistic mode, you better believe they’re just getting started.
