Almost two days after the release of the Shrouded Sky update, Embark Studios has deployed a targeted hotfix for ARC Raiders, addressing several technical issues and resolving the widely criticized IL Toro rolling exploit.

The Shrouded Sky update previously introduced balance adjustments to multiple weapons — including Stitcher, Kettle, and Venator — but a significant portion of the community continued to call for changes to IL Toro, which many players consider overpowered in PvP scenarios.

PvP Balance Concerns Continue

In recent weeks, ARC Raiders’ PvP environment has faced mounting criticism over balance inconsistencies and exploitable mechanics. In an interview with PC Gamer, the game’s director acknowledged these concerns, stating that

There are still things we need to work out regarding fairness and competitive integrity.

While this February 26 hotfix does not fundamentally overhaul PvP balance, it directly tackles one of the most notorious mechanics affecting high-level encounters.

IL Toro “Shinya” Roll Tech Officially Patched

According to the patch notes, the update fixes: “Certain instances where crouch was skipping the recovery time after a dodge roll.”

Within the community, this exploit became known as the “Shinya” roll tech. By executing a precise crouch input during the dodge-roll recovery window, players could cancel the animation delay, allowing the IL Toro to fire more rapidly than intended.

This effectively increased the weapon’s practical fire rate, giving users a significant advantage in close-quarters PvP combat. The hotfix restores intended recovery timing, preventing further abuse of the mechanic.
