Last month, Sony announced the company is closing Bluepoint Games—the studio that is responsible for making the remakes of Demon’s Souls and Shadow of the Colossus. They also developed a live-service God of War title featuring Atreus as the main character before it was cancelled last year. Moreover, the studio that wanted to make a Bloodborne remake received a green light from Sony, but FromSoftware rejected the idea—according to the new report, the studio wasn’t impressed with the Demon’s Souls remake.

In this initial report, reported by gaming insider Detective Seeds, it was revealed that Bluepoint Games wanted to make a few more remakes except for Bloodborne—and he named the franchises of Jak and Daxter and Resistance. As stated, the studio received a rejection from Sony, but it hasn’t been confirmed officially since then. Now, according to Reddit user KekanKok, other studios might actually be working on remakes of Jak & Daxter and Resistance, as you can check below:

"A certain persona non grata in the leaking community recently dropped a report about projects Bluepoint was pitching before the studio’s closure. Interestingly some of the info actually lined up with what Jason Schreier later reported on Bloomberg.

A piece of the first post made about it said the following:

There had been 4 projects pitched to PlayStation to their knowledge, and these projects were not greenlit...

...2 of these projects wereremakes they wanted to take on, but Playstation did not believe they would be successful in the market. Both were apparently single player experiences. I did ask if I could have the names of the projects. Both said no, and the reason is that at least one of the pitched projects is now being worked on by another studio...

It would later be revealed by the same individual that the pitches were:

  • Bloodborne Remake.
  • Ghost of Tsushima spin-off.
  • Jak and Daxter Remake.
  • Resistance Remake.

Only half of the games here can also be found in the Bloomberg report, and it also misses an "updated version of Shadow of the Colossus", but we can't discard the last two remakes being planned at some point, since, as their report states:

Still burning to make an original game, Bluepoint pitched other PlayStation studios on developing new projects in other franchises...

Assuming that said info is true, it's clear that the remake projects being referred to are Jack and Daxter and Resistance. Bloodborne is off the cards, since we know Sony wanted to go ahead with the project before FromSoftware stepped in.

My personal theory is that the remake being worked on by another studio is Jak and Daxter. With the success of Astro Bot, it wouldn't be too crazy for Sony to want to resurrect a platforming franchise."

It’s interesting that Sony also declined the idea of making a Ghost of Tsushima spin-off by Bluepoint Games, and considering the success of Ghost of Yotei and the recently released multiplayer add-on Ghost of Yotei: Legends, potentially it could have been a great project.

As for the Jak and Daxter and Resistance franchises, Sony hasn’t revealed anything related to these game series, as the company is currently involved in other projects. The latest Jak and Daxter game, Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier, came out in 2009 for PlayStation 2 and PSP, and Resistance: Burning Skies was released on PS Vita in 2012. The last AAA title in the game series, Resistance 3, was developed by Insomniac Games and launched one year before.
