Last year, Hangar 13 released Mafia: The Old Country—the latest installment of the Mafia franchise and the prequel to the entire saga. It was a decent title with an unusual setting for the Mafia game series, and Hangar 13 was more than satisfied with the sales of The Old Country, with a new title in discussion at the studio.

So far, there is no official information about the next Mafia installment from Hangar 13. However, last year reliable PlayStation insider TCMFGames revealed the next Mafia will be a direct sequel to Mafia: The Old Country and will be set in Empire Bay, the city from Mafia 2. Recently, he revealed more information about the new Mafia video game, and, according to him, it could be released in 2028. You can check out his latest report below:

• Carina Conti, the actor for Isabella Torrisi in Mafia: The Old Country, confirmed that Hangar 13 has been approved to develop another Mafia game
• The next Mafia game could be a direct sequel to Mafia: The Old Country
• Could be set in Empire Bay in the 1920s-1930s as a Mafia 2 prequel
• Potentially releasing in 2028

Mafia 2 is one of the most favorite Mafia games for the fans, and a return to Empire Bay would be an absolutely great idea for Hangar 13. It brings a lot of opportunities for Hangar 13 to tie the events of Mafia: The Old Country and its likely sequel to the wider franchise and return some characters from Mafia 2, just like they did with Leo Galante in Mafia: The Old Country. We may also see young versions of Vito Scaletta and Joe Barbaro, the main characters of Mafia 2, in the new Mafia game and find out more of their adventures before the events of Mafia 2.
