Star Wars: Galactic Racer is set to launch on October 6, 2026. No official statement confirmed that — a pre-order page on Steam did it instead. Oops... someone updated the bonus details before the embargo lifted, and the page that went live too soon showed the firm release date on October 6 alongside the full contents of both editions. The Steam store page still lists only a vague 2026 window.

Standard pre-orders include the base game, a player banner, and livery. Deluxe buyers get three exclusive repulsorcraft, a digital art book, deluxe livery, three unique arcade events, and a separate deluxe banner. Physical deluxe copies include a steelbook.

I'd guess the formal announcement is scheduled for May 4 — Star Wars Day — since assets at this stage rarely surface without a reveal date sitting close behind. Whatever the plan was, the edition contents are out.

Fuse Games, built from former Criterion developers behind Burnout Paradise and Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit, announced the title at The Game Awards 2025. It's set after the fall of the Empire, inside an unsanctioned underground racing circuit called the Galactic League.

An IGN interview filled in the design. The game is not an open world — circuits are track-based, built around learning and replaying specific layouts. A single-player campaign runs under the Galactic Racing League banner, with multiplayer alongside it. The boost system has two stages; the second is a ramjet that pushes extreme speed. On the volcanic planet Lantaana, lava rivers heat the ramjet up fast, water rivers cool it — terrain is a variable, not just scenery. Between races, players walk the paddock, talk to Star Wars characters, build rivalries, and tune vehicles. No season pass at launch.

I think the track-based approach is the smarter design — once you go open world, racing starts competing with sightseeing for the player's attention. The game arrives on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
