History knows dozens of examples of video games being canceled, the concepts of which sounded fantastic, and gameplay videos were completely captivating. One of these games could have been Time Walker - an ambitious RPG about time travel.

Recently, Tim Cain, one of the creators of the Fallout game series, talked about the game. Cain has his own YouTube channel - Timothy Cain, where he shares details about the franchise, as well as interesting stories about game development, including their design, programming, and more. One of his latest videos is dedicated to the game Time Walker - a game that never reached the development stage.

The concept of the game was invented by Kane in 2001 together with another well-known developer, Jason Anderson, when they were working together at Troika Games – the studio, which is mostly known for Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines. The main character of Time Walker was supposed to be a certain "time agent," whose task would be to travel to different eras of humanity and ensure that its key events occurred correctly, without disrupting the timeline. According to Caine, players would encounter a lot of historical figures on their way, and some would even have to be eliminated – the young version of Tutankhamun was one of them.

The game was supposed to be released on the original Xbox and could have also included multiplayer elements. Unfortunately, Time Walker existed only as an idea and was cancelled at an early stage. Considering the quality of the aforementioned Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines, an RPG with elements of time travel could have become a potential hit. But it should not be forgotten that this was more than 20 years ago, and many mechanics might have been extremely difficult to implement.
