This week, Warhorse Studios officially confirmed that they are developing two new games: one set in the Middle-earth universe, which will be an open-world RPG, and a new installment in the Kingdom Come series—but not Deliverance 3.

It is believed that the game set in the Middle-earth universe is still in the early stages of development, while the new Kingdom Come, according to Embracer’s financial report, is set to be released during the next fiscal year (by March 31, 2028). Tobias Stolz-Zwilling, Warhorse Studios' Communications Director, personally decided to clarify some details in a recent developer post on social media platform X.

In particular, Stolz-Zwilling confirmed that the new Kingdom Come will indeed be released during the next fiscal year, adding, “if everything goes right.” He also dispelled rumors that the game would be a spin-off or switch genres—it is a full-fledged open-world RPG, similar to the Kingdom Come: Deliverance duology.

Some details about the development of the studio’s two upcoming projects were also revealed. Specifically, Stolz-Zwilling revealed that the new Kingdom Come will be directed by Prokop Jirsa, who served as lead designer on Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. As for the game about Middle-earth, it will be led by Viktor Bocan—he was the lead designer of the original Kingdom Come: Deliverance, and now he’s the creative director at Warhorse Studios.

At the same time, Embracer Group, the parent company of Warhorse Studios, recently announced the restructuring process, during which it was decided to split the company into two holdings. Fellowship Entertainment will be responsible for major projects and will own 4A Games (Metro), Crystal Dynamics (Tomb Raider), and, of course, Warhorse Studios, while Embrace will take on the duties of introducing the mobile market, remasters, and AA games.

At the same time, the company also teased that it might return to franchises that were abandoned —Deus Ex, Saints Row, Legacy of Kain, Red Faction, and others are mentioned.
