Death Stranding Filmi Uyarlaması Video Oyunundaki Karakterleri İçerecek; Çekimler Gelecek Yıl Başlayacak

At the end of 2022, it was announced that Death Stranding, the franchise created by the legendary Hideo Kojima, would be adapted into a film. Shortly after the announcement, it was revealed that the movie would be produced by the studios A24 and Hammerstone Studios, with Michael Sarnoski—known for Pig and A Quiet Place: Day One—serving as both director and screenwriter. Additionally, Kojima himself will be directly involved in the creation of the project.

In a recent interview with Variety, director Michael Sarnoski revealed that he has completed the second draft of the script and that filming is tentatively scheduled for 2027. He also teased characters from the video game Death Stranding might appear in the movie. Although he didn't specify which characters, this news has already sparked hope and speculation among fans. “I want it to feel big, but also offbeat and character driven. This takes place in the world of the video game, but I have my own set of characters. There are some like overlapping characters that fans will be excited to see, but it’s very much my own story within this universe.”

Earlier, Sarnoski also mentioned in an interview with IGN that Hideo Kojima has an incredible understanding of cinema and is actively involved in the film's development. According to him, the script was well-received by the legendary game designer. Regarding the appearance of video game characters, Norman Reedus, the actor who portrayed Sam Bridges in the Death Stranding games, previously stated that he would gladly play the character in the movie—if given the opportunity. In addition to the film, the franchise will also expand with an animated movie titled Death Stranding: Mosquito and an anime.

Regarding the Death Stranding games themselves, last year saw the release of the second installment on PlayStation 5, titled On the Beach. In March of this year, the game was launched on PC, seemingly marking Sony’s last solo project on that platform, as the company has since stopped porting its exclusives. Currently, there is no work underway on a third installment. However, Hideo Kojima has previously mentioned that he has ideas for Death Stranding 3 and has even developed a concept, though he hopes another studio will take on the development of the game. At present, Kojima is focused on the horror title OD, created in collaboration with Xbox Game Studios and PHYSINT, as well as a cinematic "action-espionage" video game in partnership with PlayStation.
