Just over two weeks remain until the release of the first remake in Assassin's Creed history—Black Flag Resynced. Ubisoft recently announced that the game has gone gold, confirming that it will definitely launch on July 9 for PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5.

However, Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced might not be the only remake in the series currently in development. Insider information has already surfaced suggesting that Ubisoft plans to release more Assassin's Creed remakes in the future, with the next one likely being a re-release of the original game from 2007. What's more, it seems the developers themselves have started teasing the Assassin's Creed (2007) remake, as Desmond Miles—a key character in the franchise— appears in new Animus data files. It's especially notable that these documents are tied to the franchise's modern-day storyline, as you can check out below:

Desmond Miles is mentioned in a new Animus data file and his name also appears in a few other files.

If Ubisoft is really making the Assassin's Creed 1 Remake, they have to bring him back somehow in the current modern-day storyline. Otherwise there could be a huge backlash. They can't replace him with the Animus Hub.

As is well known, Ubisoft significantly revamped the modern-day setting in Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced by removing the storyline involving the Abstergo office and adding new memory segments focused on Edward Kenway. Something similar could potentially happen in a remake of the original Assassin's Creed (2007), featuring Desmond Miles' story, to better connect the game with the recent entries in the franchise. However, until Ubisoft officially confirms work on a remake, this remains purely speculative.

Besides Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, Ubisoft is also developing the next mainline game series, Assassin’s Creed Codename Hexe, rumored to release next June, and a multiplayer title – Assassin’s Creed Codename Invictus.
