Ubisoft continues to struggle with a crisis that is clearly affecting its current projects, including the new installment of Ghost Recon, known as Project OVR. A recent report reveals that during the troubled development of the game, the studio has already cut some content from it, but the developers are still working hard to complete it.

New information from the Insider Gaming portal has revealed some details about the development of the new Ghost Recon. According to the source, Ubisoft conducted initial alpha version tests of the game this spring, which unfortunately ended in failure; as a result, they decided to scale down the scope of the game. While the source doesn't specify the exact changes made, it is believed that Project OVR has already lost some game content, including both large-scale and less significant features. Currently, the game remains in a difficult state, but work on it is actively ongoing.

Previously, insider Tom Henderson reported that Project OVR failed to meet its internal Alpha objectives and has been plagued by "unrealistic deadlines and poor planning and management." He also believes that at some point, Ubisoft might even cancel the new Ghost Recon installment altogether to focus on other projects. Incidentally, other upcoming Ubisoft titles, such as Far Cry 7 and Assassin's Creed Codename Hexe, are also facing difficulties amid widespread layoffs and the closure of various game development divisions within the company. Just this month, two divisions— Ubisoft Winnipeg and Ubisoft Belgrade —are being shut down, along with cuts at Ubisoft Barcelona and Ubisoft San Francisco.

Moreover, another report from Insider Gaming revealed that Ubisoft Barcelona has laid off about 30% of its staff, leading employees to announce a planned strike set to take place from June 30 to July 16.
