Insomniac Games, Jean Grey'in Marvel's Wolverine'de oynanabilir karakter olacağını yalanladı

This week, Insomniac Games was among several studios attending San Diego Comic-Con, where the developers revealed new details about their upcoming PlayStation 5 exclusive, Marvel's Wolverine. Specifically, they released a new trailer focused on the game’s story, and at one point, fans started speculating that Logan wouldn't be the only playable character.

One user pointed out that in the trailer, the camera noticeably lingers on Jean Grey while Logan opens the door for her. That's sparked theories that she will be the game's second playable character, especially since Insomniac Games has a history of building out scenes around female characters—like it did with Mary Jane in Marvel's Spider-Man. The theory got extra fuel from a major 2023 leak that suggested Jean would indeed be playable. However, it now looks like that’s actually not the case.

Insomniac Games’ Senior Community Manager, Aaron Espinoza, personally responded to the speculation, confirming Jean Grey won’t be a playable character in Marvel's Wolverine and that the trailer moment was just a temporary camera cut, as you can check out his comments below:

Ok not sure if I'm going crazy here, but does this shot not totally confirm that Jean is gonna be playable?

Camera is locked behind her and Logan is holding the door open for her.

Not playable. This is just part of a momentary camera shift.

Despite that denial, Jean Grey still looks set to play a significant role in the story of Marvel’s Wolverine—not only fighting alongside Logan but also helping him recover his memory. What's more, the recent trailer teased the two characters may have had a romantic history together.

Also, at Comic-Con, Insomniac Games announced Marvel's Wolverine will feature a crossover with Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls, with Logan's suit from the game appearing in the fighting title. They also revealed the soundtrack for the PlayStation 5 exclusive will be scored by David Fleming, who previously worked on The Last of Us.
