Amazon Games, Tomb Raider: Catalyst'in 2028'de piyasaya sürüleceği iddiasını yalanlamış gibi görünüyor

Amazon Games head Jeffrey Gattis recently spoke with The Game Business about the company's upcoming titles - projects Amazon publishes for other studios. Among them are the next entries in the Lara Croft franchise, Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis and Tomb Raider: Catalyst. On the latter, Gattis claimed the game had been postponed to 2028 —though it turns out his comments were misunderstood.

An Amazon Games representative reported to Gematsu that the studio doesn't actually have an exact release date for Tomb Raider: Catalyst yet, which denies Gattis's earlier statement. As the representative mentioned, “We don’t have anything new to share about Catalyst's timing. The game is progressing well, and we look forward to sharing more details as we get closer.”

That's caused a fair bit of confusion among gamers since it was announced this summer that Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis had been delayed to February 2027. A lot of people assumed that meant Catalyst would follow a year later, in 2028, but it looks like it’s still too early to give any predictions. However, it’s quite possible the game could still land in two years, which would line up well with Crystal Dynamics' current schedule.

There is not much detail on Tomb Raider: Catalyst for now, except the fact the game will feature a fully open world and serve as a direct sequel to 2008's Tomb Raider: Underworld, instead of 2018's Shadow of the Tomb Raider.

At the same time, Crystal Dynamics Experience Director Jeff Adams has confirmed that Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis ties directly into the Survivor trilogy —he has even claimed the story takes place after those games, when Lara Croft is "in her prime."

Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis will release on February 12, 2027, for PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5. Tomb Raider: Catalyst's release date is currently unknown.
