After early-month GTA 6 gameplay leaks, which ultimately didn't reveal all that much, Rockstar Games gave fans a proper look at the game during its Netflix presentation, Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look, showing full gameplay footage, various mechanics, and even a glimpse of story missions.

Plenty of people have noticed Rockstar still hasn't said anything about multiplayer, since the game's being marketed purely as a single-player experience. In a new Forbes report, Paul Tassi suggests the studio might not release GTA 6 Online until 2027 or even 2028. That tracks given the sheer scale of the game, something An Extended Look made pretty clear, and the fact that it doesn't really make sense for Rockstar to shift focus to online right now when there's still plenty of work left on the main game, especially the technical side. GTA Online also continues generating huge revenue on its own, which takes some of the pressure off.

GTA 6 Online could still be one or even two years away.

According to Forbes, Rockstar could wait until 2027 or even 2028 before launching the online mode. That would give the studio time to focus on the main game first, while GTA Online continues making money in the meantime.

So don’t expect GTA 6 Online anytime soon after launch.

For context, GTA Online originally launched just two weeks after GTA V, but given how much bigger the sixth installment is, fans might have to wait longer this time. Bloomberg's Jason Schreier has recently hinted at something similar, claiming Rockstar has no plans to talk about multiplayer anytime soon.

As for GTA 6 itself, a lot of attention right now is on the technical side, particularly the fact that it will run at 30 FPS on all consoles, including PlayStation 5 Pro. Rob Nelson, co-studio head at Rockstar North, stated as much previously, and Digital Foundry's technical analysis of An Extended Look backed that up. However, according to HipHopGamer, a source with ties to Rockstar, GTA 6 will actually hit 60 FPS on PS5 Pro, and he has been pretty vocal about encouraging players to pick up that console model.
