Over the past few days, quite a few rumors have been circulating that Sony is planning to hold a new State of Play presentation next month. As new information emerged, an official announcement wasn’t long in coming, and now we have a date for the presentation—and fans are surely pleased to hear how soon it will take place.

On its social media channels, Sony has officially confirmed that the next State of Play presentation will take place this week —on September 3 at 6:00 a.m. PT/ 9:00 a.m. ET/ 3:00 p.m. CEST/ 10:00 p.m. JST. The live stream will be available on the official YouTube and Twitch channels. Confirmed details include news and announcements from PlayStation Studios and third-party studios, as well as a look at Square Enix’s Final Fantasy VII Revelation, which is set to release next spring.

State of Play returns on September 3, followed immediately by State of Play Japan!

Additionally, Sony has confirmed that another event—State of Play Japan—will take place shortly after State of Play, where we can expect to see game previews and announcements from Japanese studios and other Asian countries.

There were earlier reports that Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet—a new IP from Naughty Dog— would be the headliner of the next State of Play event, scheduled for September, along with a mention that a gameplay trailer would be revealed. Now that rumors about the State of Play event have been confirmed, it will be interesting to see if the studio will indeed show the first footage of the game. Additionally, reliable insider NateTheHate has also hinted that Until Dawn 2 might be featured at the show, given that its release is scheduled for earlier than that of Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet.
