Capcom, Resident Evil 5 ve Resident Evil 6'nın yeniden yapımlarının bir gün piyasaya sürüleceğine dair ipuçları veriyor gibi görünüyor.
Capcom has released several Resident Evil remakes over the past few years, and most of them have been major successes, particularly the remakes of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 4. A recent report now suggests Capcom officials see remakes of the remaining numbered entries as essentially inevitable.
To mark the release of the BIOHAZARD 30th Special Mook, Resident Evil executive producer Jun Takeuchi spoke about the franchise's future, hinting the studio already has a plan for remaking the series' numbered games. He also touched on how pivotal Resident Evil 7: Biohazard was in shaping where the series has gone since. You can check out his fuller comments below.
“The current Resident Evil series is being developed along two tracks: the numbered titles allow players to experience the ongoing story of the series, while the remake series allows them to experience the past. Someday, the remake series will catch up with the era of the numbered titles, and we are already thinking about what we will do when that happens. In fact, we have been gradually preparing for that since around Resident Evil Village. The appearance of names such as Umbrella and Spencer, as well as the return of Raccoon City in Requiem, are also in preparation for a crossover.
One of the reasons we regard “7” as a turning point for the series is that it was also the title where we began working on this kind of setup. At first, we included these elements with the sense that they were fan service, but users were far more delighted by them than we had imagined, and they even began analyzing the thoughts that the development team had privately kept to itself. So, as a series, we decided to respond to users’ expectations and pushed this setup further in Village and Requiem.”
Takeuchi apparently suggested remakes of Resident Evil 5 and Resident Evil 6 are only a matter of time. Reliable insider Dusk Golem, though, recently reiterated that neither is actively in development right now, while still noting that a Resident Evil 5 remake will almost certainly happen eventually.
As for other confirmed and officially unconfirmed remakes, Resident Evil Veronica is scheduled for release in 2027, with a recent update narrowing that down to the second half of the year. Rumors also point to an enhanced version of Resident Evil Zero in 2028, and Capcom is reportedly already working on a remake of the very first Resident Evil. Meanwhile, the Resident Evil Trilogy Remake (2, 3, and 4) will be available on Nintendo Switch 2 later this month (October 16).
