Scalpers are already taking advantage of the upcoming release of Nvidia's GeForce RTX 5090, listing presales on eBay at prices far beyond the official MSRP. Despite the product not being available until the January 30 launch, resellers are offering to secure GPUs and ship them immediately after purchase.

As PC Mag reported, some eBay listings claim sellers will line up at retailers like Micro Center on launch day to obtain stock. One listing promises, “I’ll standing in line at Micro Center and try to get as many as possible.” These listings ask for prices between $3,000 and $7,000—far exceeding the RTX 5090’s $1,999 official starting price.

Reports also mention resellers offering “guaranteed slots” for RTX 5000-series GPUs, leveraging inside access through employment at electronics retailers. While eBay allows presales under specific conditions, some listings have been mysteriously removed, potentially due to scrutiny over policy compliance.

With limited supply expected, scalpers are betting on high demand from buyers unwilling to wait. A UK retailer has indicated their RTX 5090 inventory will likely sell out within seconds, citing “single-digit” stock levels.

For US buyers, major retailers like Best Buy, Newegg, and Nvidia are set to begin online sales at 6 a.m. PST on launch day, with Micro Center stocking units in physical locations. Nvidia has also enabled a “notify me” option on its website to help users stay updated on availability.
