Rumors about a new DLC for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt regularly circulated, but CD Projekt RED remained silent. Yesterday's announcement by the developers of a special stream dedicated to the anniversary of The Blood and Wine added fuel to the fire regarding the reveal of a new expansion. But fortunately, it happened sooner.

The official X account has confirmed development of a new DLC for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt titled Songs of the Past. Geralt of Rivia returns as the lead protagonist in this expansion, which is being developed in collaboration with Fool's Theory (The Witcher remake) and is slated for release in 2027 on PC, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch 2.

This brand new expansion for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will take you to the Path with Geralt of Rivia once more. It’s being co-developed with Fool’s Theory and is coming to PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5 in 2027. Stay tuned for more information in late summer.

The developers also updated the minimum system requirements for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and the new DLC, Songs of the Past, posting them on their website, as you can check out below:

• GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660, AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT 8GB
• VRAM: 6 GB
• RAM: 12 GB

In a subsequent post on X, it was confirmed that the DLC was originally supposed to be presented during the upcoming stream dedicated to The Blood and Wine, but the title of the new expansion was prematurely revealed, which forced the developers to make the announcement earlier.

According to early rumors, the events of the new DLC for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will lay the foundation for the plot of the fourth installment. Since Geralt has been confirmed once again as the main character, Songs of the Past will most likely be something like passing the baton to Ciri—but this is yet to be seen.
