God of War Spin-Off About Faye

One of the most discussed games in the context of State of Play is the new God of War installment. It is claimed that it will be a spin-off dedicated to Faye, but Kratos will also have a place in it—he will appear in a cameo role. The announcement of God of War about Faye was reported by several reliable insiders, and the game's release is tentatively scheduled for early 2027.

Gameplay and story details of the game are still kept secret, but it is assumed that it will be a prequel to God of War (2018); attention will be paid to East Asian mythology, and Faye will have a talking sword and a companion, which is described as a “gelatinous cube.” In turn, the combat system will be faster and resemble the Devil May Cry series games.

Hogwarts Legacy 2

The sequel to Hogwarts Legacy, developed by Avalanche Software, unlike the God of War spin-off about Faye, is officially in development, which was announced back in September 2024. Many insiders also claim that the game will be announced at State of Play, similar to the first part, which was also confirmed during a PlayStation 5 event.

According to rumors, Hogwarts Legacy 2 will be noticeably larger in scale than the original —specifically, it will include multiplayer and the ability to play Quidditch. In addition, players will be able to visit some well-known locations from the Harry Potter lore, such as Privet Drive, Diagon Alley, and even the streets of London, and the game's story may be connected to the upcoming reboot series for HBO Max.

Break In/ Fairgame$

Last month, Sony registered a new trademark called Break In, which, it turned out, is related to an upcoming unannounced video game. And the fact that this happened shortly after the confirmation that State of Play will take place on June 2, fans took as a sign.

Nevertheless, several insiders have reported that Break In may not be entirely a new game but a rebranding of the upcoming online shooter FairGame$ from Haven Studios. It was previously reported that early tests of the game did not impress gamers, but Sony still remains confident in the project's success despite the likely risks.

Injustice 3

And although the head of NetherRealm Studios, Ed Boon, confirmed that a new Mortal Kombat is in development, fans are convinced that the developers' next project will be Injustice 3.

The reason is not only that NetherRealm often alternates the releases of its franchises, and the previous release was Mortal Kombat 1; this was also directly hinted at by the vacancy of one of the artists of Warner Bros. Games, which also indicates the aforementioned sequel Hogwarts Legacy and two unannounced projects.

New inFamous Game

The new project in the inFamous game series is more of a speculation than an assumption, but over the past weeks, excitement around the franchise has noticeably increased.

The start of this topic was given by the editor-in-chief of Video Games Chronicle, Jordan Middler, who stated that Sony is considering the possibility of bringing back its old franchises that have not been in the spotlight for a long time, and one of these is inFamous. Moreover, he heard that a new game is in development—but not by Sucker Punch Productions. Subsequently, other insiders also confirmed Sony's interest, in particular, NateTheHate, but he noted that he doesn't know anything about the new inFamous video game.

Recently, new information surfaced mentioning that a remake of the first installment of inFamous could potentially be shown at State of Play, but the chances of this remain insignificant.

Rayman Legends Retold

And the game that will almost certainly appear at State of Play is Rayman Legends Retold, a remake of the original 2013 game. Last week gave the first look at the game, including new details, price, and key art, and such massive leaks happened because journalists, according to one insider, have already familiarized themselves with Ubisoft's new product. Other reliable insiders have also confirmed the official announcement of Rayman Legends Retold at State of Play, with the release on October 1 of this year.

Forza Horizon 6 for PS5

Given the continued success of Forza Horizon 6, one of the best games of the year, which was released last month on PC and Xbox Series X/S but still does not have a confirmed release date for PlayStation 5, it would be logical to announce it at an event held directly by PlayStation.

New Title from Media Molecule

Their new game at the upcoming State of Play could also be presented by Media Molecule - the developers of Dreams and LittleBigPlanet. According to a recent report related to job openings, their next project will have an open world as well as survival elements. Considering that the studio belongs to Sony, it is quite logical that the announcement should take place at the parent company's event.

Resident Evil Requiem Story DLC

Capcom, as is known, is working on a story expansion for Resident Evil Requiem, their biggest hit of 2026. And although there were no rumors or insider information about showing the DLC at State of Play, it looks logical from the point of view of generating interest in the game, as well as its status as one of the highest-rated games of the year and the status of State of Play itself. Moreover, the studio has been sharing announcements and new gameplay trailers at Sony events for many years - including at the February State of Play, where the appearance of Leon S. Kennedy in Resident Evil Requiem was revealed.

Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet

Perhaps the main upcoming PlayStation exclusive is Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet from Naughty Dog. Although the game was announced back in 2024, and aside from the debut trailer we haven't seen any official footage, the developers created arguably Sony's main game franchises - Uncharted and The Last of Us—so high hopes are placed on the new IP.

Various sources claim that the release of Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet will take place in 2027, and if that is the case, Naughty Dog is obliged to show the first gameplay trailer of the game at State of Play—and possibly even close the presentation with their showcase.

Bonus: GTA 6

Yes, apparently, the official marketing campaign for GTA 6 will start closer to the middle of the month, and until then, one should not expect the release of a new trailer or the disclosure of any other information. But if Sony really wants to make the upcoming State of Play event special, the presence of GTA 6 could contribute to that.

In any case, such conversations appeared after insider DetectiveSeeds stated that Sony and Take-Two Interactive have a special agreement that allows GTA 6 to be involved in events like State of Play. And although most players are skeptical about this, the most devoted fans remain optimistic.
