This month, all fans of The Elder Scrolls VI marked another significant milestone— the 8th anniversary of the game's official announcement at E3 2018. Unfortunately, Bethesda is still not ready to share official details about this highly anticipated title. In a recent interview, Todd Howard, the studio's lead, explained the reasons behind the lengthy delay.

In a new report by Entertainment Weekly focusing on upcoming Xbox projects, Howard stated that The Elder Scrolls VI is currently the studio's biggest project, and Bethesda needs more time to ensure everything is done with high quality. The highlights from his interview you can check out below:

“That's what the majority of the studio is on. We know we need to get it right and it's been a long time.”

Previously, the head of Bethesda gave an unusual piece of advice to all fans of The Elder Scrolls VI, suggesting they pretend the game hasn't been officially announced. This caused quite a stir and sparked concerns about the game's status. However, Xbox Chief Content Officer Matt Booty, who recently visited Bethesda’s office, said that The Elder Scrolls VI looks amazing. He also assured fans that the studio will definitely showcase the game when the time is right.

Despite the lack of official news, rumors about The Elder Scrolls VI have regularly surfaced. In particular, it has been suggested that the game’s events will take place in the regions of Hammerfell and High Rock. Players are expected to be able to visit more than 10 major cities, and sea voyages—similar to the spaceship travels in Starfield—will play a key role in the gameplay. However, the release is unlikely to happen before 2028 or 2029.
