A significant number of gamers—primarily PlayStation owners—are eagerly awaiting Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, a new IP from Naughty Dog, the developers of Uncharted and The Last of Us. The studio isn’t rushing to share official details, but there are increasing signs the project is in the final stages of development.

Users have noticed the updated job postings on the developers' website. The studio is reportedly looking for specialists in quality assurance (QA), playtesting, and bug fixing, which can only mean one thing: Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet is already at a very advanced stage of development, and Naughty Dog is likely already polishing the game, fixing issues, and so on.

It appears that Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet has entered one of the final stages of development.

Job listings from Naughty Dog indicate that part of the work on the project is now focused on quality assurance (QA), playtesting, bug fixing, and preparing the final build.

QA is the process in which a game is repeatedly tested to identify and resolve bugs, crashes, level issues, animation problems, subtitle errors, and other issues before release.

This is far from the first indirect confirmation about the development of Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet being nearing completion. Late last month, Naughty Dog confirmed the motion-capture scenes for the game had been wrapped up. At the same time, there were rumors new footage from Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet would be shown at the State of Play event held on September 3, but unfortunately, that didn’t happen.

Previous rumors suggested Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet could be released in the second half of 2027, which is entirely in line with the development schedule. Fans are hoping for a soon-to-come reveal of the game, about which little is known so far. The Game Awards, held in December, seems like a logical choice, but it’s possible Sony might decide to dedicate a detailed presentation to the game during a future State of Play event, as they did with God of War: Laufey, when they showed us over 20 minutes of gameplay from Santa Monica Studio’s new title this past summer.

Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet is an upcoming action-adventure PlayStation 5 exclusive, which is rumored to be twice as big as The Last of Us: Part 2 and feature RPG elements. The release date for Naughty Dog’s latest title remains unknown for now.
