Eidos Montreal Yeni Bir İşten Çıkarma Dalgası Duyurdu
Eidos Montreal, the developers of Deus Ex franchise, are going through a rough patch. Not only have there been reports over the past six months that the studio has canceled a number of projects, including a new Deus Ex and even a game based on The Lord of the Rings, but the company has also announced massive layoffs.
On their LinkedIn page, Eidos Montreal announced that 124 employees have lost their jobs due to “changing project needs and impacts across production and support teams.” This is the fourth time the studio has released its workers since last March. You can check out the full statement from Eidos Montreal below:
“AN UPDATE FROM EIDOS-MONTRÉAL Eidos Montréal is announcing a reduction in its workforce and the departure of Head of Studio, David Anfossi.
The reduction in workforce affecting 124 employees is a result of changing project needs and impacts across production and support teams. Today is a difficult day for our studio and reflects the need to adapt and concentrate efforts where Eidos-Montréal can be most effective.
We are deeply grateful to the team members impacted; this decision is not a reflection of their talent, dedication, or performance. Supporting those impacted with care and respect remains our priority, while ensuring continuity for the teams moving forward.
Also, after many years as Head of Studio, David Anfossi and Eidos Montréal are also parting ways. We thank David for his contributions and wish him the best in his future endeavors. A transition plan is underway, and further updates will be shared as new leadership is finalized.
Today, however, our priority is supporting our colleagues.”
Eidos Montreal is currently serving as a supporting studio for Playground Games on working for Fable, as well as Grounded 2 being developed in cooperation with Obsidian Entertainment. Last December, Insider Gaming shared an exclusive report that Eidos Montreal is working on a big-budget title based on Alien universe that was described as “Shadow of the Tomb Raider with xenomorphs.” The project is still not confirmed yet, and there is no information on how these layoffs could impact the game’s fate.
