007 First Light'ın devamını Amazon Games değil, IO Interactive geliştirecek

This May, IO Interactive released its new title, 007 First Light, which went on to become one of the year's most highly rated projects and performed well financially too. There are already conversations about the game’s potential sequel, though there's a catch regarding which studio would actually develop the project.

As is well known, Amazon owns the rights to James Bond franchise, and there have been earlier report that a new 007 game might come from one of the company's internal studios rather than IO Interactive, which disappointed plenty of fans. But in a new interview with GamesIndustry, Amazon Games CEO Jeff Gattis claimed IO Interactive should be the responsible for making a sequel, as you can check out in his comments below:

“We did not confirm anything about who's publishing or developing the next Bond sequel. Like Hakan said, we haven't even discussed it really yet. The game's awesome. That's great. I think it's realistic to think that there would be a sequel. Technically, Amazon does own the rights to the game, but we're going to do what's right by the game, we're not trying to bring everything into Amazon. Given the success of this one, I think you probably want IOI developing it.”

It's hard to disagree with Gattis—007 First Light really is worth playing, and its Metacritic score of 87, placing it among the year's top 10 highest-rated games, is a solid proof. Nevertheless, IO Interactive hasn't confirmed the studio is actually working on a new James Bond game, and as Gattis notes in the interview, they "haven't even discussed it really yet." Still, the prospect alone should be enough to excite fans.

This week also brought a few important updates on 007 First Light. According to analytics firm Circana, the game ranks among the top three best-selling titles of 2026, and IO Interactive has released a new update for the game - Behind Enemy Lines. It adds two new TacSim missions, along with new weapons, and fixes a number of technical issues.

007 First Light and its latest update, Behind Enemy Lines, are now available on PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5.
